How to Get to the End of the World Train

The End of the World Train leaves from Estación Fin del Mundo, on Ruta Nacional 3 at km 3065, 8 km west of central Ushuaia and 1 km before the national park gate. The railway runs no shuttle, so you get there by taxi, by car (parking is free) or on a park tour that includes the train.
The station sits outside Tierra del Fuego National Park, but the line runs into it, so every rider needs a park ticket as well as a train ticket. You can board only at Estación Fin del Mundo, not at the park station, and cars cannot drive the railway route. The railway has no ticket office in town.

By taxi
A taxi is the simplest way to reach the station on your own. We have no reliable current fare to quote, so agree the price with the driver before setting off, and arrange how you will get back. If you plan to ride one way and stay in the park, you will need a pickup at the park station or a place on a later train.
By car
The drive is short, and parking at the station is free. If you continue into the park, the speed limit is 40 km/h and there are six car parks, including at Río Pipo, Lago Acigami and Bahía Lapataia. In winter, snow tyres or chains are required.
On a park tour
A tour with the train option solves the transport and the park in one go. The National Park & End of the World Train Tour picks you up at your hotel, drives about 45 minutes to the park, puts you on the train, then continues to Lapataia Bay, Lake Roca, the Alakush visitor centre and Ensenada Zaratiegui. The park fee and where to buy it
The train fare does not include the national park, and park entry is required for every rider, even on a round trip where you stay on board.

Buy it online at ventaweb.apn.gob.ar, the national parks sales site that the railway itself links to. Paying at the gate is reported to work with cash or card, but buying online in advance is the safer choice, and in this park the 50% discount for a second visit within 72 hours applies only to tickets bought online. Tierra del Fuego residents should check their own rate, as published sources disagree.

What you’ll find at the station
- Toilets at the main station and at Estación Parque Nacional. There are none on the train.
- No ATM, so bring cash or cards. The railway accepts ARS, BRL, USD and EUR in cash, plus the main cards, Mercado Pago, PayPal and PIX.
- No space on board for luggage or strollers, and no luggage storage.
- Adapted carriages for travelers with reduced mobility; let the railway know in advance.
- Only certified assistance animals are allowed.
- Simple snacks are fine on board, and mate is the only hot drink allowed.
Arrive at least 45 minutes before departure, when check-in is mandatory. The End of the World Train schedule lists the departure times for each season.
Getting there from a cruise ship
Shore excursions that combine the park and the train take about 4 to 5 hours, and the drive from town to the station takes about 20 minutes. The railway itself sells no cruise-specific departures, so most cruise passengers book a tour that meets them at the port.
