The headline price on most park tours is the tour without the train. The train is a separate option at checkout, and on some tours you buy the ticket yourself at the station.

The park entry is extra on every option here except the all-inclusive option of the Small-Group National Park Tour (our breakdown →). Foreign visitors pay ARS 40,000, and you need it even if you never leave the train. Some write-ups describe the 788107 tour as including the park entrance; its listing puts the “National Park entrance ticket (mandatory)” under not included, so check the “not included” list of any tour before you compare prices.

Every ticket the railway sells is a round trip. Tours use it one way: you ride to the park station, and your guide and van meet you there. Travelers riding on their own can come back on the train, or in spring and summer take a later train if space allows.

December to February is the peak, with most cruise calls, and slots fill early. Most tours here offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before, so booking early costs little.

The “Panoramic City Train” sold in Ushuaia is a road train around town. It does not go to the national park.

The Tierra del Fuego National Park Tour starts at the train station, then continues to Ensenada Zaratiegui (closed in winter), Lake Acigami and Lapataia Bay, where the Pan-American Highway ends. Cruise passengers

The National Park & Train Tour for Cruise Passengers includes the train and times its pickup and return to your ship, at $124 for 8 October 2026. It is a new listing with no reviews yet, run by the same operator as the 660726 tour. Train and Beagle Channel in one day

The National Park, End of the World Train & Beagle Channel Day includes the train in the morning, then a boat at 2:15 PM for about three hours past the islands and Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse. It costs $190 and finishes at the port, not your hotel. An option with a 5-hour navigation to the penguin colony also exists. A private day

The Private Tierra del Fuego National Park Tour has a 4.9 rating from 57 reviews and a route shaped around you. It is booked as a private tour: $450 for one traveller on 8 October 2026, with the total for a larger party shown once you enter your group size, and the train is an optional ticket bought on the day. A private tour makes most sense for families, groups of four or more, photographers, travelers with limited mobility and cruise passengers with unusual timings. The train itself stays a shared, scheduled service. You pay for the private vehicle and guide, and the freedom to shape the park part of the day around you.

Families with children

A park tour with the train option is one of the easier family days in Ushuaia. It mixes a train ride, short walks and stops in the van, which most children manage better than a full hiking day. In winter

From May to August we would book a tour unless you are confident driving on snow and ice. The tour handles the transfer to the station, the train timing, the winter roads and the short daylight, and the snowy line is one of the most atmospheric times to ride. A park tour with the train is far more efficient than booking the railway on its own: two of Ushuaia’s best-known sights in one half-day block. The train is included in every option of the National Park, End of the World Train & Beagle Channel Day, the Tourist or Premium tour and the National Park Half Day with the End of the World Train. Included is the better choice if:

• you definitely want to ride the train
• you do not want to compare booking options
• this may be your only visit to Ushuaia

On the Tierra del Fuego National Park Tour, the National Park & End of the World Train Tour and the National Park Tour with Optional Train Ticket, the train is an option you pick at checkout. Optional is the better choice if:

• you are still deciding whether the train is worth the extra cost
• you are traveling with people who want different things
• budget matters
• the park is your priority

On an optional-train tour, the one mistake to avoid is booking the cheaper standard option when you want the train. The 788107 listing says the train is included only when you select the “With train included” option. The same operator also sells a train-included version of this day on other booking sites, so if you meet it elsewhere at a higher headline price, the train is the difference; the park entry is still extra there too.

What a good train tour includes

For a first visit, look for:

• Hotel pickup. The station is 8 km out of town, and pickup takes care of getting there.
• The train ticket. Check that it is in the option you book.
• Tierra del Fuego National Park. The train alone covers only the park’s first corner.
• Lapataia Bay. The end of Route 3 and one of the park’s best-known stops.
• Lago Acigami. The lake most visitors remember from the day.
• A guide. The landscape makes more sense with the prison history, the Yámana people, the geology, the plants and the wildlife explained.
• Clear park-entry information. This is where otherwise similar tours differ most.

How long a good tour takes

The tours on this page take four and a half to six hours, with five hours the most common. That leaves time for pickup, the train, several park stops with short walks, the guide’s commentary and the drive back. A much shorter itinerary can feel rushed at the viewpoints. • go at your own pace
• skip the stops that do not interest you
• add a hike

• winter driving can be difficult
• the train ticket is a round trip, so you ride back to the station where your car is parked

A train-focused visit for railway enthusiasts

If the railway is what you came for, you may not need a park tour at all. Riding on your own gives you time for the station, the locomotives, the prison railway story, the class of carriage you choose, the stop at La Macarena and railway photographs. If the ride matters more to you than the cost, look at Premium class too. It is a less efficient plan for a first visit that also wants the park, but a good one for rail enthusiasts.

Do you need both the train and the park?

No. If railways and prison history do not interest you, choose a park-only tour. If you are a railway enthusiast and have already seen the park, the train on its own is enough.
