National Park, End of the World Train & Beagle Channel Day

About This Experience

The day starts with hotel pickup in Ushuaia and a minibus ride of about 45 minutes to Tierra del Fuego National Park. The group rides the End of the World Train for about an hour along the old prisoners' line through the forest.

Back on the road, the guide takes you to Lapataia Bay, where Ruta Nacional 3 ends, then to Lake Roca, the Alakush Visitor Center and Ensenada Zaratiegui, with around 30 minutes at each. Ensenada Zaratiegui is open only from about mid-October to mid-May; outside that period the tour spends longer at the other viewpoints.

The minibus returns to central Ushuaia, not to your hotel, for about 45 minutes of free time near the Tourist Port. At 2:15 pm you board the boat for about three hours on the Beagle Channel, passing Isla de los Pájaros, the sea lion island and Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse. A 5-hour navigation option adds the penguin colony, which is in season from about mid-October to the end of March.

The End of the World Train ticket and the port fee are included. The national park entry fee (ARS 40,000 for foreign visitors since 1 June 2026) is not, and there is no return to your hotel after the boat trip.

Good to Know & Caveats

• Every visitor needs a Tierra del Fuego National Park ticket: ARS 40,000 for foreign visitors since 1 June 2026 (Argentine residents pay less, and children aged 0 to 6 enter free). It can be bought online in advance from the national parks service.
• The End of the World Train sells out in December to February, when most cruise ships call, so train seats for those months are best booked early.
• Ensenada Zaratiegui is reachable only from about mid-October to mid-May; out of season the stop is replaced by extra time at other viewpoints.
• The End of the World Post Office at Ensenada Zaratiegui is often closed, so don't count on going inside.
• Lunch is not included; the midday break in central Ushuaia is the time to eat.
• Cruise passengers are asked to send their ship's arrival and departure times to the operator.
