What fits into a port day in Ushuaia

A park-and-train outing from the pier in Ushuaia runs about four to five hours. That covers the End of the World Train and the main viewpoints in Tierra del Fuego National Park, provided the timings line up with your ship. The train leaves from the End of the World Station, 8 km west of the town centre on Route 3 and 1 km before the park gate. Between September and April it departs at 9:30, 12:00 and 15:00, and check-in closes 45 minutes before each departure.

The ride itself is short. The operator gives about 1 hour 45 minutes for the round trip, including a 20-minute stop at La Macarena. Tours usually ride one way into the park and meet their van at Estación Parque Nacional, which frees the rest of the morning for Lapataia Bay and the lakes.

One cost sits outside every option on this page. The national park ticket is not part of any train fare, and every rider needs it even for a round trip that never leaves the carriage. Since 1 June 2026 it costs foreign visitors ARS 40,000, and none of the port-pickup tours here include it.

The ship-timed tour with the train included

On this site, one listing is both timed to cruise ships and includes the train ticket: National Park & Train Tour for Cruise Passengers. It picks you up at Puerto Comercial or the passenger control building, and the listing says pickup and return are coordinated with your ship’s arrival and departure. The booking page sells ship-specific options, plus one for any other cruise.

The price starts from $99 on GetYourGuide, and the “any other cruise” option came to $124 for an 8 October 2026 date (checked September 2026). That buys a Classic Service train ticket, a bilingual guide in English and Spanish, the van from the port and back, and stops at Ensenada Zaratiegui, Lapataia Bay, Lago Acigami (still sold as Lago Roca on most tours) and the Alakush visitor centre. The whole outing takes about five hours.

It is a brand-new listing with no reviews yet, and the first dates on sale start in mid-October 2026. The operator, Info de Ushuaia, is not new: its regular National Park & End of the World Train Tour has 1,131 reviews and a 4.5 rating, the most reviewed tour on this site (our breakdown →). The cruise version follows the same route with the timing built around your ship.

Going independently: taxi and the official ticket

Doing it on your own works if you only want the train. The railway runs no shuttle and has no office in town, so the usual route is a taxi from the port to the station. The operator’s own ticket is sold on GetYourGuide as End of the World Train Tickets, Turista Class from $50, and its Economy option was $53 for 8 October 2026 (our breakdown →). On the operator’s own price list, the Turista fare for anyone 13 or older rises to ARS 80,000 from October 2026.

Add the park ticket, which the national parks service sells online, and allow for check-in. Every train ticket is a round trip, so you end up back at the main station after about 1 hour 45 minutes, having seen the Pipo valley and the first corner of the park. Lapataia Bay lies further down Route 3, about 20 km from town, and the lakes and bays need a vehicle. There is no ATM at the station, though it takes cash in pesos, US dollars, euros and reais as well as major cards.

Cruise tours where the train costs extra

Several park tours meet cruise passengers at the port but leave the train out of the price.

• National Park Tour for Cruise Passengers, Train Extra meets at the Tourist Port and costs $120, rated 4.4 from 43 reviews. The train tickets are listed as not included, and passengers who skip the train take a guided walk while the others ride. One reviewer wrote that a payment link for the train arrived the day before (our breakdown →).
• Small-Group National Park Tour, All-Inclusive Option has a cruise-port option, $88 for 8 October 2026, which does not include the train. Its separate all-inclusive option ($189) is the one fare on this site that bundles the train and the park entry, but that is not the cruise-port option. • National Park Morning Tour, Train or Boat Option sells a with-train option at $100, but that option is hotel pickup only and not available to in-transit cruise passengers (our breakdown →).

Two more tours say outright that their regular departures do not take cruise passengers: the Tierra del Fuego National Park Tour with Lunch and the Tierra del Fuego National Park Trekking & Canoeing. Both point cruise guests to a private service instead.

December to February: the busy months

Ushuaia’s cruise season for 2026/27 runs from September 2026 to April 2027, with 572 ship movements expected. December, January and February carry about 62% of them, and those are also the months the train is busiest. The operator’s advice is to buy online in advance, especially in high season, and tours timed to ships draw on the same limited departures.

Summer does give you more park. From December to February the park is open from 8:00 to 21:00, and the trails that close in winter are open from November to April. The schedule guide has departure times for each season.

Which option suits your call

With a long call and no interest in organising the day, the ship-timed tour is the simplest fit: train ticket included, pickup at the pier, and the park’s main stops in about five hours. The trade-off is the lack of reviews on this particular listing, softened by the operator’s record on its regular tour.
